Khulna: Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Khulna University (KU), Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, emphasized that the youth of Bangladesh are poised to lead the nation towards a future free from discrimination. He underscored the pivotal role of students in reclaiming the essence of freedom, akin to their involvement in 1971, during an event in 2024.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Karim made these remarks at the award-giving ceremony of an inter-school speech competition titled ‘July Revolution: The Roar of Youth for Democracy,’ held at the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy auditorium. He highlighted the potential of the youth’s strong voices in building a powerful and responsible Bangladesh, asserting that the nation’s future, devoid of discrimination, will be shaped under their leadership.
The event was presided over by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam and organized by the Khulna District Administration’s July Celebration Program Committee. Ayman Ahad, the convener of the program and an active member of the July Movement, delivered the welcome speech. The event was moderated by KU students Sumaiya Akter and Sharmin Sultana.
The program commenced with a documentary on the July Revolution. Students from 10 schools in Khulna participated in the competition, with Saint Joseph’s School winning first place. Khulna Zilla School secured second place, while Navy Anchorage School and College came third.
