Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid announced today that all waqf estates will undergo digitization to ensure efficient management. "We have taken up some measures for the smooth management of the waqf estates," he remarked during a view exchange and general meeting of the Motawalli Samity, Bangladesh, held at the Hamdard Auditorium at Rupayan Tower, where he served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Khalid emphasized the establishment of a separate bench in the High Court dedicated to hearing waqf-related cases. He highlighted the integral role waqf plays in Islamic culture, tracing its origins back to the time of Rasul (SM) for the benefit of humanity. The adviser noted that the founders of waqf had sincere intentions, dedicating their valuable properties for the satisfaction of Allah and the welfare of people.
Dr Khalid urged the Motawallies to stay vigilant to protect the noble initiatives of the waqifs. He stressed that all waqf administration activities should align with existing laws and rules, clarifying that Motawallies are managers, not owners, of the waqf estates. He also stated that appointments as Motawalli must adhere to the deeds and encouraged all Motawallies to rectify any discrepancies.
The meeting, chaired by Motawalli Samity President Dr Hakim Md Yusuf Harun Bhuiyan, also saw its Secretary General Principal Dr Md Alamgir Kabir Patwari presenting a proposal to address the estates' challenges. Dr Khalid listened attentively to the 14-point proposal and assured its implementation based on logical considerations. Among those addressing the meeting was Amirul Momenin Manik, Director-Information and Mass Communication of the Waqf Estate, alongside leaders and workers of the Motawalli Samity.
