Narayanganj: Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) today stated that the push-in of people into Bangladesh territory by India has decreased due to continued protest. 'Push-in is no way accepted. We are constantly protesting the move and it works as the push-ins have decreased significantly,' he said after visiting the RAB-11 Headquarters at Adamjinagar under Siddhirganj Police Station.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, while responding to a question about government measures to stop cross-border push-ins, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury mentioned that they have repeatedly called upon the Indian authorities to stop these actions. He emphasized that the Indian authorities have been urged to adhere to the due process of law to return Bangladeshis, should they need to be sent back.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury criticized the actions of leaving people in jungles and rivers, describing it as a gross violation of human rights. He expressed concern over India's approach, which bypasses legal processes.
Addressing another query about measures against police personnel, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury informed that four officers have been attached in connection to a robbery incident in the capital's Mohammadpur area involving a journalist. Additionally, three snatchers were arrested, and the stolen mobile phone was recovered. He assured that those found guilty of negligence will be brought to justice.
Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) AKM Shahidur Rahman was present during the briefing.
