Dhaka: The holy Akheri Chahar Shamba is set to be observed across the country on August 20, marking the recovery of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (SM) from a prolonged illness.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was affirmed during a meeting of the national moon-sighting committee held at the Islamic Foundation's conference room in Baitul Mukarram on Friday evening. The meeting was presided over by Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain, as stated in a press release.
The observance date was determined after the new moon was not sighted over the country on Friday. Consequently, the holy month of Safar will commence on July 27, with the holy Akheri Chahar Shamba falling on the 25th of Safar, 1447 Hijri, or August 20, 2025.
