Narail: A seven-day tree plantation campaign and tree fair began today in the district with the slogan of 'Let's do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh.' Deputy Commissioner Sharmin Akhter Jahan inaugurated the campaign and fair organized by the district administration and Forest Department on the premises of Shilpakala Academy at 11 am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Lincoln Biswas presided over the function. The initiative aims to promote environmental awareness and encourage the community to engage in sustainable practices. As part of the event, a variety of fruit, medicinal, and forest plants were distributed among the students of educational institutions free of cost to foster a culture of conservation and sustainable development.
The campaign is expected to have a lasting impact on the region's biodiversity and will involve various activities designed to educate and involve the local population in tree plantation efforts. The fair will feature stalls and exhibitions showcasing the importance of trees and forests in maintaining ecological balance.
