Madaripur: A man and his daughter-in-law lost their lives, and 10 others sustained injuries in a road accident on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Shibchar upazila. The incident unfolded this morning, causing significant distress in the local community.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims were identified as Masud Biswas, 55, and his daughter-in-law Firoza Begum, 28. Masud hailed from Ramakantapur in Saltha upazila, Faridpur district, while Firoza was the wife of Mamun Biswas. The tragic accident happened at Kutubpur when a microbus collided with a covered van. As the vehicles came to a halt following the initial impact, another bus crashed into them, resulting in the immediate death of the two microbus passengers and injuring 10 others from both the microbus and bus.
Zahirul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge of Shibchar Highway Police Station, provided details of the accident, highlighting the sequence of collisions that led to the fatalities and injuries. The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the region, with many calling for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
