Lakshmipur: A man was killed and another injured in a road accident at Janakalyan intersection on the Lakshmipur-Majuchoudhurir Hat road in Sadar upazila this afternoon. The deceased was identified as Rakib Hossain, 32, son of Adumia, a resident of Ward No-15 in Lakshmipur municipality.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when a pickup van collided head-on with a battery-run auto rickshaw. The collision resulted in the immediate death of Rakib Hossain, a passenger in the auto rickshaw, while another individual sustained critical injuries.
Abdul Monnaf, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, confirmed the details of the incident. The injured person was initially taken to Sadar Hospital but was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition worsened, requiring more advanced medical treatment.
