Narayanganj: A court here today sentenced a man to death for killing his wife over a family feud in Sonargaon upazila of the district in 2020. District and Sessions Judge Md. Abu Shamim Azad announced the verdict on Wednesday afternoon, Court Police Inspector Md. Qayyum Khan said.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the convict, Amirul Islam alias Babu, 35, a teacher at Bandar Girls School and son of the late Rafiqul Islam, hails from the Sonargaon Barudi area. The prosecution detailed that on December 26, 2020, Amirul killed his wife following a family dispute.
The body of the deceased was recovered by the police on December 29, prompting Abdul Karim, the father of the deceased, to file a case with Bandar Thana. Subsequently, Amirul was arrested by the police.
The judge, after a thorough examination of witnesses and evidence, found Amirul guilty and delivered the death sentence.
