Dhaka: Bangladesh Army has commenced an investigation into several 'unpleasant' incidents that occurred during the rescue operations following the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet at Milestone School and College in Uttara. The crash took place on Monday, prompting immediate response efforts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) has issued a press release indicating that the Bangladesh Army is conducting the investigation due to the gravity of the situation. The release emphasized that necessary administrative actions will be taken against those found culpable in the investigation.
The ISPR press release highlighted that the Bangladesh Army is dedicated to assisting the public and performs its duties with sincerity and professionalism. Army personnel from a nearby camp arrived promptly at the crash site and initiated rescue operations. Coordination with the fire service and other organizations was made to facilitate swift medical aid to the injured.
The ISPR noted that during the rescue operation, a large crowd gathered at the scene, impeding evacuation efforts. Despite repeated requests from army personnel and volunteers from Milestone School, the crowd remained, complicating the evacuation process and heightening the risk of casualties.
The press release further mentioned that the army conducted the rescue operations with sincerity and professionalism. As a result of the challenging conditions, at least 14 Bangladesh Army members became ill and required admission to the Combined Military Hospital.
The ISPR added that some individuals remained at the site during the afternoon, causing significant obstructions to the ongoing rescue operations. This led to an altercation with on-duty army personnel, culminating in an unpleasant incident.
The crash involved a Bangladesh Air Force training fighter jet, which tragically resulted in the deaths of several citizens, including children, at Milestone College in the capital's Uttara Diabari area around 1:18 pm.
