Rangpur: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the main accused kidnapper of a teenage girl of Domar upazila in Nilphamari from the Darshana Mour area of Rangpur metropolis on Monday night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested kidnapper is Md Mostakim Islam, also known as Munna, from the village of Purbo Chikonmati (Huzurpara) under Domar Police Station in Nilphamari district. A press release confirmed the arrest.
Earlier reports revealed that the accused had been harassing the victim on the streets with persistent love proposals. The incident escalated when the victim went out to respond to the call of nature, and Mostakim Islam, along with his cohorts, abducted her around 1:30 am on April 18, 2025.
Following the abduction, the victim's mother lodged a kidnapping case with Domar Police Station on the subsequent day. Acting on secret information, a joint operational team of RAB-13's Rangpur Sadar Company and Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 from Nilphamari Camp conducted a raid and apprehended Mostakim Islam from Darshana Mor in Rangpur city at 11:05 pm on Monday.
The elite force has since handed over the arrested individual to Domar Police Station for further legal proceedings.
