Dhaka: China is eager to enhance cooperation with Bangladesh across various sectors, including the military, to aid in the nation's development goals, stated Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen. During a lecture at the National Defence College (NDC) in Dhaka, Ambassador Yao emphasized China's commitment to maintaining friendly relations and advancing China-Bangladesh relations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event saw attendance from Rear Admiral AKM Jakir Hossain, Acting Commandant of NDC, alongside over 100 officers from the Bangladesh Armed Forces and representatives from foreign militaries. Ambassador Yao highlighted China's advocacy for a security concept rooted in common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable principles, distancing from hegemony and expansionism.
Yao underscored China's dedication to collaborating with the international community, including Bangladesh, to foster a multi-polar world and inclusive economic globalization. He mentioned initiatives like the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative as steps towards building a community with a shared future for mankind.
He also pointed out that 2025 will mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, emphasizing China's ongoing commitment to global peace and cooperation.
The lecture concluded with the Chinese envoy engaging in discussions on the Belt and Road Initiative, BRICS cooperation, and the Rohingya issue, reiterating China's readiness to support Bangladesh's development priorities. As China and Bangladesh celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, both nations are keen to deepen their strategic partnership through enhanced people-to-people connections, economic collaboration, and defense exchanges.
