Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) is preparing to publish the draft voters' list for the forthcoming parliamentary elections this month. A total of 44,66,000 new voters are expected to be added to this list, as announced by Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat, Akhtar Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, during a press briefing at his office, outlined that following the release of the draft, the EC will be open to receiving applications for corrections or amendments. However, when questioned about the appointment of polling officers, he noted that the EC has not yet deliberated on this issue.
Ahmed further mentioned that the boundary demarcation of the parliamentary constituencies is nearing completion, with an expectation of resolution within a few days. Additionally, he addressed the ongoing work related to National Identity (NID) corrections, stating that the EC has received approximately 26,000 applications for corrections up until May 31, and these will be resolved by August.
