Savar: Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter emphasized the vital role of workers in Bangladesh's development, stating that their contributions are propelling the nation forward. Addressing a large gathering of workers at Genda Balurmath near Savar bus stand in Savar upazila, Farida Akhter acknowledged the workers as primary wage earners who sustain the country's economy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the rally was organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment as part of the 'July Punarjagoron Anusthanmala-2025'. The event was chaired by the Secretary to the Ministry, AHM Shafiquzzaman. Labour and Employment and Shipping Adviser Brig. Gen. (Rtd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain attended as the chief guest, with other notable attendees including Primary and Mass Education Adviser Prof. Dr. Bidhan Chandra Ray Podder, Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmin S Murshid, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Lieutenant General (Rtd) Abdul Hafiz, and Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury.
Farida Akhter highlighted the interim government's efforts to ensure fair wages and implement workers' rights in accordance with labor laws. She also mentioned the ongoing support for the families of the July 2024 martyrs, expressing hope for improvements in their conditions following the government's changeover.
The rally saw participation from thousands of workers across various factories and industries, as well as leaders from trade bodies, representatives of factory owners, and officials from relevant departments and offices.
