Dhaka: One dengue patient died and 394 have been hospitalized across the country in the last 24 hours till this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the period, 161 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division while 38 were hospitalized in Chattogram, 58 in Dhaka division, 24 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 41 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), eight in Khulna, six in Mymensingh, and 58 in Rajshahi division, as stated in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of cases has now risen to 16,789, with 62 deaths from dengue, the mosquito-borne disease, reported this year. Over the past 24 hours, 371 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country, indicating ongoing recovery efforts.
Last year, the situation was more severe with a total of 1,01,214 cases and 575 deaths reported due to dengue, the statement added.
