Kathmandu: Nepal registered their third win in the SAFF U-20 Women's Championship, defeating Sri Lanka 7-0 in their return match held at Bashundhara Kings arena in the capital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Kusum Khatiwada and Samikshya Magar each scored two goals, while Purnima Rai, Sarira Kumari Nath, and Birsana Chaudhary contributed one goal each for Nepal in the match. This victory was a one-sided affair, showcasing Nepal's dominance over Sri Lanka.
With this victory, Nepal's tally rose to nine points from four matches, equaling Bangladesh's nine points from three matches. On the other hand, Sri Lanka has yet to score any points after playing the same number of matches.
In their previous encounters, Nepal defeated Bhutan 6-1, lost to Bangladesh 3-2, and secured another win against Sri Lanka with a score of 7-1. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka suffered losses to Bangladesh (9-1), Bhutan (5-0), and now twice to Nepal.
Nepal is set to play their remaining group matches against Bhutan and Bangladesh on July 19 and July 21, respectively.
