Dhaka: The Ministry of Cultural Affairs is set to observe 'July 18 Private University Resistance Day' tomorrow as part of the ongoing July Commemoration Programme, marking the anniversary of the historic July Uprising. A variety of cultural activities, including film screenings, musical performances, and a drone show, will take place at the Hatirjheel Amphitheater in the capital at 6 pm.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event will commence with the national anthem, followed by the screening of short films such as 'Heroes Without Capes: Private University in July', 'You Failed to Kill Abrar Fahad', 'July Woman', and 'July Birgatha'. These films highlight the significant contributions and resistance efforts of private university students during the uprising.
In addition, fighters from the July Uprising associated with private universities will be honored during the event. Musical performances are scheduled with artists Sezan, Tashfi, and Sunny, along with bands Rapper Collective and Artcell, who will perform songs associated with the July Uprising.
The event will wrap up with a drone show that depicts themes related to the mass uprising and its prelude. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs anticipates a large turnout, encouraging participation from students of schools, colleges, and both public and private universities.
