Joypurhat: A college student died after being struck by lightning on Wednesday evening at Amira village in Khetlal upazila of the district. The deceased was identified as Abdul Hannan Jafar, 25, a third-year Accounting student at Akkelpur M R Degree College. He was the son of Hafizar Rahman, a resident of Amira village.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident occurred while Jafar was preparing land for planting Aman paddy seedlings on his family's farmland. The information was confirmed by Kamal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Khetlal Police Station.
Locals rescued and rushed him to Akkelpur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
