Dhaka: The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has appointed Mohammad Akhtar Hossain as its chief economist. His contractual appointment took effect from July 1 and will continue for two years until June 30, 2027, as stated in an office order of the central bank.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Akhtar’s employment will be governed by the terms and conditions specified in the contract signed with the Bangladesh Bank on July 1. The central bank’s decision was announced today, marking a significant step in reinforcing its economic leadership.
