Washington dc: Bangladesh and the United States concluded the second round of trade talks in Washington DC, reaching agreements on several issues by the end of the third and final day. However, unresolved matters persist, prompting both nations to continue inter-ministerial discussions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the two countries plan to reconvene for further discussions, which may occur virtually or in person. The exact time and date for these subsequent talks will be determined soon, as per a statement from the Chief Adviser (CA) office.
The Bangladesh Commerce Adviser, Commerce Secretary, and Additional Secretary are scheduled to return home today. They remain prepared to visit Washington DC again if required. Following the three-day dialogue, Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin and National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman expressed optimism about achieving a favorable outcome within the designated timeframe.
Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin led the Bangladesh delegation in Washington DC. National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman, along with Chief Adviser's Special Assistant on ICT and Telecommunications Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, participated in the talks virtually from Dhaka. Additional senior government officials and experts also joined the discussions virtually.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, DC, coordinated the three-day discussions, exemplifying the ongoing commitment to resolving trade issues between the two nations.
