Dhaka: The eighth commission meeting of the Election Commission (EC) is set to convene tomorrow to discuss four significant issues, including the Representation of the People Order, 1972 (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, and the Election Commission Secretariat (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025. The meeting is slated to commence at 11 am in the EC’s meeting room, with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin presiding over the session.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting’s agenda will cover several key topics. These include the Representation of the People Order, 1972 (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; the Election Commission Secretariat (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; the Election Officer (Special Provision) Act, 1991 (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; affidavits submitted by candidates alongside their nomination papers; and the re-delegation of administrative and financial powers to officials within the Election Commission Secretariat. Additionally, the meeting will address various miscellaneous issues.
