Dhaka: The government has granted approval in principle for the sale of approximately 3.45 acres of land belonging to Latif Bawany Jute Mills Limited, situated at Hajipur Mouja in the Narsingdi Sadar upazila. The decision was made during the 20th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, held at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the proposal for the sale was put forward by the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and received the committee’s endorsement. Latif Bawany Jute Mills Limited operates under the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC).
In addition to the land sale, the meeting also approved two separate proposals from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs concerning the “July Revival Programmes-2025.” These approvals include the use of the Direct Procurement Method (DPM) for renting drones and exhibiting them through local and Chinese firms to conduct five drone shows as part of the program.
Furthermore, the Economic Affairs Committee sanctioned a proposal under the DPM method to urgently and fairly execute related events, which include documentary exhibitions via LED displays centered on the July Revolution, events in 63 districts and Dhaka, as well as activities such as placing wreaths at July Memorials, organizing rallies, and various memorial events. The approval also covers printing operations for posters, event designs, and invitation cards.
