Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has warned all against any sort of mob violence in the country. Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has issued a stern warning regarding mob violence, declaring that no individual involved in such acts will escape justice. "None involved in mob violence will be spared. Action is being taken against all of them, no matter how much powerful they are. They will be detected and exposed to justice," he asserted.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser made these comments while speaking to journalists after visiting the Industrial Police Headquarters and Uttara Purba Police Station in the capital on Sunday afternoon. He noted that although incidents of mob violence had previously decreased, there have been recent occurrences in certain areas. "We are taking a tough stance on this matter. If anyone is found instigating mobs, they will also be brought to book," he stated.
The adviser reported that seven individuals have already been arrested in connection with a mob violence incident in Rangpur. He emphasized that news about such incidents is now more accessible due to advancements in media and information technology. Jahangir highlighted that the Industrial Police, a crucial unit of the police force, faces manpower shortages but continues to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of the country's industries.
He suggested that with the expansion of industries and factories, the manpower of the Industrial Police should be bolstered. The government is actively working to address this issue. In response to questions about the national election, the adviser remarked that creating a conducive environment for elections is a shared responsibility. "It's the joint responsibility of the Election Commission, administration, and political parties participating in the elections," he opined.
He assured that there is no lack of preparation and that efforts are being made to organize a fair election, with all necessary measures being taken to maintain law and order. During the briefing, Industrial Police Chief and Additional IGP Gazi Jasim Uddin, along with senior police officers, were present.
