Khulna: The biennial conference of the Sonadanga Thana unit of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal was held on Saturday at the Zia Hall premises in the city. BNP City Unit President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona addressed the conference as the chief guest, with Khulna City Sramik Dal Convener Mojibur Rahman in the chair.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BNP organizing secretary Sheikh Sadi, Chowdhury Hasanur Rashid Miraj, Sonadanga Thana Unit BNP president Hafizur Rahman Moni, general secretary Asaduzzaman Asad, and Zakir Iqbal Bappi, among others, addressed the event. During his speech, Shafiqul Alam Mona remarked that the industrial city of Khulna has suffered economic setbacks, describing it as a “dead zone” due to the policies of the Awami League regime, which he accused of rampant looting and shutting down mills.

Mona also criticized the Awami League government for damaging the democratic process, alleging that they undermined the election system and stifled freedom of speech. He highlighted the student-led mass uprising, which he claimed had led to the end of the nearly 16-year rule of autocratic leader Sheikh Hasina, as noted by other leaders present at the event.
