Dhaka: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has strongly protested a report published by Bangladesh Pratidin on July 4, 2025, which was captioned ‘Film grants are shared among themselves (Chalachittra Onudan, ‘Nijeder Moddhei VagBatoyara).’ The ministry has dismissed the allegations in the article as “baseless and misleading” and has clarified the procedures followed in awarding government film grants.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ministry issued an official statement affirming that the selection of films for grants was carried out in accordance with the Government Grants for Full-length and Short-length Film Production Policy, 2025. The policy dictated the formation of two separate committees: the Full-length Film Selection and Supervision Committee and the Short-length Film Selection and Supervision Committee. Each committee was comprised of 11 members, including five experts in film.

Following the selection process, a Grant Committee was constituted under the policy to evaluate the recommended stories, screenplays, and applications. This committee included nine members, four of whom were experienced in the film profession. The ministry emphasized that all selections were made with “complete impartiality” and within the framework of the policy.

The statement concluded by reiterating that all allegations presented in the report are unfounded.
