Dhaka: The interim government has decided to remove the symbolic one-minute internet blackout from the July Commemoration programme, as announced by Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. This decision marks a shift from the initial plans laid out for the commemoration events.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farooki expressed the government's reservations about the internet blackout during the planning stages. He noted that although the event was repeatedly proposed and reconsidered, consensus emerged that a symbolic internet blackout might not be a beneficial inclusion. Farooki shared these thoughts with the public through a Facebook post earlier today.
Farooki indicated that a swift meeting led to the decision to eliminate the one-minute symbolic internet blackout from the programme. He assured that updated programme slides are being distributed, while reaffirming that all other planned events will proceed as scheduled. Farooki concluded his message by urging everyone to "reconnect, regroup and reignite the very July fire."
