Chandpur: A man and his son died from electrocution at Kaddipanchgaon village of Shahmahmudpur union in Sadar upazila here today. The deceased were Abdur Rob Tapdar, 60, a resident of Tapdar house in the area, and his son Sayem Tapdar, 23.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tragic incident occurred when Abdur Rob and his son attempted to soak jute plants in beel water next to their house around 1:30 pm. During this time, a live electric wire snapped and fell into the water. Abdur Rob became entangled in the wire and was electrocuted. In a bid to rescue his father, Sayem also came into contact with the live wire and suffered the same fate.
Locals rushed to the scene and transported them to Chandpur Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctors pronounced them dead. The sudden and tragic loss of the father and son has left the local community in shock.
Officer-in-Charge of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station, Bahar Mia, stated, "I have heard about the incident, but no one has filed any complaint regarding this incident yet." This incident raises concerns about the safety of electrical installations and the need for immediate attention to prevent such tragedies in the future.
