Pahartali: Pahartali Thana Police have arrested Shamshuddoha Sikder Arju, the senior vice-president of the banned organization Chattogram North District Awami Jubo League. Arju Sikder, who served as the president of Rangunia Upazila Jubo League for two terms, is a resident of Syedbari village in Ward No. 8 of Rangunia Municipality.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pahartali thana Md. Babul Azad confirmed the arrest, stating that Arju was apprehended by local people on Friday night in front of Saraipara Ebtedayi Madrasa in the city and handed over to the police. A case has been filed against him in the city's Kotwali Thana.
It is reported that since August 5 last year, multiple cases have been filed against Arju Sikder in various police stations and courts, including Rangunia, Chandgaon, and Kotwali in the city. He had been in hiding for a long time since the ousting of the Awami League government.
