Colombo: Liton Das went past his teammate Mushfiqur Rahim as the leading wicket-keeper in Tests on Day 2 of the second and final cricket Test against Sri Lanka at Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo today. Liton started the match level with Mushfiqur’s tally of 113 dismissals. However, he eclipsed the veteran Mushfiqur by taking a simple catch behind the stumps to dismiss Dinesh Chandimal in the final session.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the dismissal marked his 114th dismissals overall, with 99 catches and 15 stumpings. Liton reached the milestone in just his 65th innings, while Mushfiqur needed 97 innings to achieve the same. Liton replaced Mushfiqur as the wicket-keeper as the team management aimed to relieve the veteran, considered Bangladesh’s No. 1 Test batter, from the burden of wicket-keeping.
