Dhaka: Labour and Employment Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman announced today the incorporation of labour court case management into digital services as part of the Advancing Decent Work in Bangladesh project. "A digital case management system will be launched, which will speed up the process of case disposal," Shafiquzzaman stated during an inter-ministerial meeting with representatives from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) at the ministry's meeting room.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting focused on the digitalization of labour courts, the prevention of child labour, and the expedited resolution of labour disputes. The initiative will see the Ministry of Labor and Employment collaborating with the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the Cabinet Division, and the ICT Division to commence digital processing of cases, implementing the ILO's National Action Plan and Roadmap.
Shafiquzzaman highlighted that the ILO will facilitate training for officials from various departments including the court, the Department of Labour, the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments, the Labour Lawyers Association, and related workers. He emphasized the involvement of all stakeholders in the digital transformation process of labour cases.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, ICT Division, Department of Labour, Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
