Dhaka: The final round of the National Volleyball competition, comprising the 30th men’s and 25th women’s tournaments, is scheduled to take place from June 26-30 at the Shaheed Noor Hossain National Volleyball Stadium in the capital. The competition will see a total of seven men’s teams and six women’s teams directly participating in the final round.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seven men’s teams include defending champions Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Navy, and teams from Kushtia, Dhaka, Bogra, and Rajshahi districts. In the women’s section, the reigning champions Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party will compete alongside teams from Bangladesh Police, Satkhira, Rajshahi, Chattogram, and Jessore districts.

Bangladesh Volleyball Federation general secretary Bimal Ghosh Bhulu, speaking to BSS, noted that a two-day men’s selection round would precede the final round. This selection round will occur from June 23-24 at the same venue, involving six teams. Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Bangladesh Police Volleyball Club, Bangladesh Krira Shkiia Protisthan, Power Development Board, Titas Club, and Bangladesh Jail will compete in this selection phase, with the top four teams advancing to the final round.

Bimal Ghosh Bhulu further mentioned that after a long hiatus, the national volleyball competition is being revived. He highlighted plans to select 40 to 45 players from the national competition for long-term training in preparation for the SABA International Volleyball competition scheduled for October in Dhaka.
