Sherpur: The bodies of two minor girls, who had been missing since Tuesday noon, were discovered this morning in a pond located at a remote fish farm in the Battala Mridabari area of Sribardi upazila. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Swapna Khatun, aged 6, daughter of auto rickshaw driver Swapan Mia, and Sakal Akhter, aged 7, daughter of brick mason Selim Mia. Both families reside in the same area. The grim discovery was made by locals at around 8 am when they found the bodies floating in the pond and subsequently alerted the police.
Police officials, upon receiving the information, promptly arrived at the scene to recover the bodies. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sribardi Police Station, Md. Anwar Zahid, stated, "We are taking the incident seriously and investigating. Further legal action is underway."
