Khulna: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar here today said the interim government is heading toward the 13th national parliamentary election.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Parwar referred to the recent London visit of the Chief Adviser, indicating that the election might be held around mid-February next year. He emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami is an election-oriented political party and urged supporters to create a mass wave in favor of the 'scale' symbol of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh for the upcoming election.
Parwar made these remarks at several roadside gatherings held at Sikirhat, Fultala Bazaar, and the Shiromoni Shaheed Minar premises in Khulna, organized by the local Jamaat as he returned home after performing the holy Hajj. The day-long gatherings began at Sikirhat Ferry Terminal, followed by Fultala Bus stand area and Shiromoni Shaheed Minar premises.
The meetings were chaired by Master Mofizul Islam, Ameer of Fultala Sadar Union Jamaat, Professor Abdul Alim Molla, Ameer of Fultala Upazila Jamaat, and Dr. Syed Hasan Mahmud Tito, Ameer of Khan Jahan Ali Thana Jamaat, respectively.
Golam Parwar further stated that over the past 54 years, the people have witnessed the rule of various political parties, none of which have brought about the desired welfare for the nation. He criticized previous governments for turning the country into an unstable state through acts such as killings, looting, corruption, oppression, and injustice.
He pointed out that the public is now expressing a desire for Islamic governance, as they feel they have experienced the rule of all other parties. Parwar conveyed that Jamaat Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has called for building a new Bangladesh and announced a framework for a people-oriented and welfare-driven state.
Professor Parwar also expressed that with Islam-loving members elected to the next parliament, Bangladesh could be transformed into a 'Golden Bengal.' He noted that following the public uprising of 2024, there is an opportunity to rebuild the lost path of Bangladesh.
In this newly liberated Bangladesh, gained through the martyrdom of over 2,000 students and citizens and the crippling of about 30,000, Parwar stressed that no force should be allowed to give birth to fascism again, to create inequality, or to commit injustice, oppression, occupation, and extortion. He urged everyone to remain vigilant to prevent the shattering of the dreams of the youth and citizens.
