Dhaka: Two persons were killed and six others, including two children, were injured in a road accident in the Borodia Bridge area of Matlab Dakkhin upazila on the Chandpur-Matlab-Pennai road today. The deceased were identified as Siddiqur Rahman, 50, an auto-rickshaw driver from Choto Haludia village under Matlab Uttar upazila, and Tapan Chowdhury, 35, from Matlab Dakkhin upazila of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when a passenger bus collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area. The collision resulted in the immediate death of Siddiqur Rahman and left seven others injured. Local residents promptly rescued the injured and transported them to Chandpur Government General Hospital, where Tapan Chowdhury later succumbed to his injuries.
The condition of the injured remains critical, as stated by the medical officer at the hospital. Two of the injured have been transferred to Dhaka for further treatment. In response to the incident, police have seized both vehicles involved in the collision from the scene.
