Manikganj: A motorcycle rider was killed in a head-on collision with a passenger bus on the flyover at Pancho Rasta in Ghior upazila of the district today. The deceased was identified as Maulana Shirajul Islam Sheikh, 42, son of Md. Thandu Sheikh of village Char Gobindopur under Daulatpur Upazila of the district. He was a teacher at Uchutia Dakhil Madrasa under Manikganj Sadar upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ghior Police Station Rafiqul Islam stated that the accident occurred at about 1 pm on the Pancho Rasta flyover. A passenger bus of Shwadhinata Paribahan, heading towards Manikganj, collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, resulting in the immediate death of the motorcycle rider.
Police responded promptly to the scene following the accident, recovering the body and seizing the bus involved in the collision. However, the driver of the bus managed to flee the scene, eluding capture.
