Dhaka: Home Adviser Lt Gen Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) emphasized the importance of discipline and cooperation among citizens to maintain law and order and control traffic congestion. He made these remarks while speaking to reporters during a visit to the Gabtoli cattle market.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser stressed that if everyone maintains discipline and works with patience, both law and order and traffic congestion would remain under control. He urged the public to cooperate with the concerned authorities and to adhere to rules while driving and managing trucks carrying sacrificial animals. He encouraged everyone to promote rule-following among others to ensure order on the roads.
The adviser also noted that the prices of sacrificial animals are relatively reasonable this year, with prices slightly lower compared to the previous year. He assured that there is an adequate supply of cattle, which should prevent any issues for buyers.
Addressing concerns about sellers chargi
ng extra money for space in the cattle market, Adviser Jahangir clarified that no additional charges for space are permitted and that this policy has been communicated clearly in meetings.
Earlier in the day, the adviser visited Mirpur and Kafrul police stations in the capital, as well as the Public Order Management (POM) unit located in the Mirpur area.
