Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today congratulated Lee Jae-myung on his election as the new South Korean president. In a message sent to Lee Jae-myung, the Chief Adviser expressed his congratulations on behalf of the Government and the people of Bangladesh, as well as on his own behalf.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser highlighted that Lee Jae-myung's victory is a testament to the trust and confidence that the people of Korea have in his leadership and vision for the nation. He conveyed his wishes for Lee's success in achieving the aspirations of his citizens and guiding the country towards peace, prosperity, and stability.
The Chief Adviser also emphasized the longstanding relationship between Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea, characterized by mutual respect, friendship, and shared values. He noted Korea's role as a key development partner and major foreign investor in Bangladesh since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Professor Yunus expressed confidence in the strengthening of the bonds between the two countries under Lee Jae-myung's leadership, anticipating new avenues of collaboration and partnership for their mutual benefit. He recalled their shared vision of improving lives through micro-credit programs and specifically mentioned Lee's initiative in establishing the Jubilee Bank in Korea for providing small loans to low-income individuals, which has positively impacted millions.
In his message, the Chief Adviser expressed his eagerness to work closely with President Lee both in his capacity as the Chief Adviser of the interim Government and as an advocate of microfinance and social business. He wished the new Korean president good health, happiness, and continued peace and prosperity for the people of the Republic of Korea.
Lee Jae-myung, representing the Democratic Party, was elected as Korean president on Wednesday.
