Netrokona: Police seized a large consignment of Indian sarees worth approximately Taka 50 lakh from Noihati Bazar in Chiram union of Barhatta upazila in the early hours of today. Locals at Noihati Bazar intercepted a truck loaded with the sarees and alerted the authorities to the situation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the police reported that the sarees had been imported from India illegally. Upon receiving the tip-off, law enforcement swiftly moved in to confiscate the truck and its contents from the scene.
Despite the successful seizure, the driver and helper of the truck managed to evade capture. The police are currently investigating the incident to track down the individuals responsible for the illegal importation and distribution of the sarees.
