Netrakona: The district administration of Netrakona, in a ceremony at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), distributed Eid gifts to 17 families of those martyred in the July uprising, ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DC Banani Biswas presented the gifts on behalf of the July Smrity Foundation and the district administration. In her address, DC Banani Biswas expressed profound gratitude towards the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the previous year's July uprising, which aimed to liberate the country from autocratic rule.
She acknowledged the irreplaceable loss suffered by the families and affirmed the administration's commitment to supporting them, stating, "We as the servant of the public will be with you in need."
The event was moderated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukhamay Sarkar and attended by various dignitaries, including members of the martyred families, Joint Secretary of district BNP SM Moniruzzaman Dudu, central organizer of National Citizen Party Pritom Sohag, and its central member Fahim Rahman Kahn Pathan. Other notable attendees were NCP district leaders Rafiqul Islam Shuvo and Farjana Khanom Rubi, district convener of July Warriors' Tofail Ahmed, member secretary of the anti-discrimination students' movement Ashraful Alam Apurba, and its joint member secretary Nafiur Rahman Khan Pathan.
