Dhaka: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain announced that Bangladesh will soon send a fresh and substantive diplomatic note to India addressing the continued push-in of people across the border, and reminding New Delhi of the established mechanisms to handle such matters.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Adviser mentioned that the diplomatic note is expected to be issued either today or tomorrow. This statement was made during a press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to inquiries from reporters. When questioned about the tone of the letter, Hossain indicated that it would depend on the interpretation and context in which it is viewed.

Hossain highlighted that Bangladesh is maintaining ongoing communication with India on the border issue through existing diplomatic channels. He stated that India has provided a list of individuals it claims to be Bangladeshi nationals. Bangladesh has received some of these individuals after conducting verification processes. Each case is being examined on an individual basis, and only those with confirmed Bangladeshi nationality will be accepted.

The Adviser emphasized the necessity of using the established consular mechanisms to address such issues in a structured and lawful manner. He reiterated that efforts are being made to manage the situation under the set rules through the existing diplomatic frameworks. In response to another query, Hossain confirmed that there has been no progress regarding the deportation of ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
