River Ports Urged to Hoist Cautionary Signal 1 Amid Weather Alert

Dhaka: River ports have been instructed to hoist cautionary signal number one due to the likelihood of rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds in various parts of the country over the next 24 hours from 9 am today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the warning for inland river ports will remain effective until 6:00 pm today, as per a bulletin released by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). The bulletin indicates that rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary west or north-westerly gusty or squally winds with speeds ranging from 45-60 kilometers per hour, are expected over regions including Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet. River ports in these areas are advised to hoist cautionary signal number one, as stated in the met office bulletin.
