Dhaka: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Dr. Bidhan Chandra Ray Podder announced today the upcoming inauguration of five new primary school buildings, set to take place on June 1, with the ceremony to be held at the Azampur Primary School compound in Dhaka’s Uttara.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government has been actively constructing these school buildings across the country, designed to support the mental growth and educational needs of children. The newly constructed buildings include Azampur Primary School, Government Primary School at Mirpur-1, Khalilur Rahman Government Primary School at Mirpur-12, Diyabari Government Primary School at Uttara, and Kobbad Sardar Government Primary School at Gendaria.
The construction of these five buildings required a budget of Taka 24.96 crore, featuring four four-storey buildings and one three-storey building. Previously, on December 26, Dr. Podder inaugurated five similar primary school buildings in Dhaka.
This initiative is part of a broader project that began in January 2020, aiming to provide new buildings for 132 primary schools across 12 thanas in Dhaka City. Additionally, it includes the renovation of 10 schools and the construction of 14 new primary schools. The local government engineering department (LGED) is overseeing the project, which is expected to cost Taka 1,372.82 crore and be completed by 2027.
