Three Killed in Mymensingh Road Accident

Mymensingh: At least three people were killed and six others injured in a head-on collision between a BRTC bus and a passenger vehicle, locally called ‘Mahendra’, in Ishwarganj upazila in the district today. The deceased were identified as Abdus Sobhan, 60, of Paikura village in Barahit Union, his son Sabuj Miah, 30, and Kohinoor Sultana Hasina, 35, of Daripanchashi village under Sadar Union.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when a Mymensingh-bound BRTC bus collided head-on with a Mahendra vehicle in the Dattapara area of Ishwarganj municipality on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway around dusk. The collision resulted in the instant death of the three Mahendra passengers and left others injured.

The injured, identified as Sabbir, 27, Shiuli, 27, Rafiqul Islam, 30, Abdul Gani, 50, Ramzan, 23, and Shahin, 25, were initially treated at Ishwarganj Upazila Health Complex. They were later referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for further treatment.

of Ishwarganj Police Station, Obaidur Rahman, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
