Jhenaidah: An elderly man was beaten to death at Maliat village under Kaliganj upazila of the district today. The deceased was identified as Nayeb Ali Molla, aged 65, from the same village.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nayeb Ali Molla was embroiled in a conflict with Yunus Ali, a fellow villager, over a piece of disputed land. The tension escalated into a physical altercation around 11 am on Wednesday. During the clash, Yunus Ali and his son, Alamin Hossain, allegedly struck Nayeb Ali on the head with a stick, as reported by Shahidul Islam Howlader, Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station.
Following the incident, Nayeb Ali’s family members promptly rescued him and transported him to the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex. Unfortunately, the on-duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival.
