Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a comprehensive security advisory consisting of 18 points to ensure the safe and peaceful celebration of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Deputy Commissioner of DMP, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, emphasized the importance of security awareness at both individual and institutional levels in addition to the measures implemented by the police.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DMP has urged the public to use specific contact numbers for police assistance during emergencies. The numbers provided include the DMP Control Room Numbers: 01320-037845, 01320-037846, 223381188, 0247119988, 029619999, and the National Emergency Number 999.
Residents of the city are advised to adhere to the 18 instructions issued by the DMP to ensure safety. These include guidelines on the transportation of sacrificial animals, vigilance against fraudulent activities at cattle markets, and caution during financial transactions. Residents are encouraged to utilize the DMP’s money escort service for safe cash transfers.
The advisory also stresses the importance of securing homes and establishments. Security guards should maintain constant surveillance, and measures should be taken to enhance the overall security system. Residents are advised to lock doors and windows securely, install operational CCTV cameras, and ensure adequate lighting around properties.
Additional recommendations include leaving valuables in safe custody or bank lockers, informing neighbors about travel plans, and instructing security personnel to prevent unauthorized access to properties. Precautions such as turning off electrical appliances and securing garages and outdoor areas are also highlighted.
The DMP advises travelers to plan their journeys carefully, prioritize safety, and avoid risky travel practices. Specific instructions are given to bus owners and drivers to ensure passenger safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
