Lahore: Pacer Shoriful Islam became the fourth Bangladeshi bowler to achieve a 50-wicket haul in the T20 format. His accomplishment occurred during the first T20 International against Pakistan at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium when he dismissed Fakhar Zaman leg-before for 1.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, and Taskin Ahmed previously reached the 50-wicket mark for Bangladesh. Shakib and Mustafizur are the only Bangladeshi bowlers to surpass the 100 T20 wickets milestone, with Shakib leading the chart with 149 wickets. Although Shakib has retired from T20 cricket, Mustafizur, with 134 wickets, is poised to overtake him soon. Taskin Ahmed has accumulated 82 wickets in his career so far.

Shoriful reached this milestone in his 45th match and later added another wicket to his tally by dismissing Shadab Khan. He concluded the match with figures of 2-32. Meanwhile, Mahedi Hasan is on the brink of becoming the next Bangladeshi bowler to reach 50 wickets, having taken his tally to 49 after securing a wicket against Pakistan.
