Cumilla: A spirited sports competition and prize distribution ceremony for children with special needs was held today at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the Cumilla District Sports Office as part of the Festival of Youth 2025 celebrations, under the Sports Department’s Annual Sports Programme 2025-26. The competition aimed to provide an inclusive platform for children with special needs to showcase their athletic talents and determination.
Senior Assistant Commissioner of the District Administration, Shahadat Hossain, attended the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest. The event was presided over by District Sports Officer Sumon Kumar Mitra, who played a key role in orchestrating the day’s activities.
The competition saw the participation of forty enthusiastic children with special needs, who engaged in various athletic events. Their performances highlighted not only their sporting abilities but also their resilience and spirit.
The ceremony was also attended by notable figures such as Md. Shamsuzzaman, Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development, Cumilla; Rikta Barua, Assistant District Education Officer; and members of the district sports association, including Golam Kibria, Khalid Saifullah, and sports organizer Mahabubul Alam Chapal. Their presence underscored the community’s commitment to supporting and encouraging young athletes with special needs.
