Dhaka: Adviser for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has stated that all the waste from sacrificial animals will be removed within 12 hours and preparations for this task have been completed. Although the qurbani ritual will last for three days with 90 percent of the animals expected to be slaughtered on the first day, the adviser emphasized the importance of prompt waste disposal.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the administrators of the city corporations have committed to ensuring that all waste will be cleared within the stipulated time, and preparations are fully underway. In a Facebook post, the adviser reassured the public of the readiness and efficiency of the waste management process during this period.
In a separate announcement, the LGRD adviser highlighted the government's actions against online gambling. A process is underway to close more than one thousand gambling-related accounts. He urged the public to report any information regarding gambling accounts and their associated bank accounts promptly.
The adviser further explained that gambling is banned in cyberspace under article 20 of the new cyber safety ordinance, aimed at protecting public interest. The creation, operation, or promotion of any gambling portal, application, or device, as well as any direct or indirect involvement in gambling advertisements, is considered a punishable offense under the act.
