Dhaka: Road communication and railways adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today announced that the government would implement comprehensive measures to ensure a safe journey for citizens during the upcoming Eid ul Azha holidays. ‘Extra vigil will be enforced particularly at accident-prone areas to prevent road accidents. Necessary measures will be taken to ensure quick primary health care,’ the adviser stated after a meeting with concerned officials and stakeholders at Bidyut Bhaban.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khan also warned transport operators against charging extra fares from passengers, emphasizing that any such actions would be met with strict legal consequences. He highlighted that representatives from relevant government institutions would monitor roads and highways around the clock to prevent extortion.
Furthermore, Khan, who is also the adviser for energy affairs, mentioned that makeshift cattle markets would not be allowed near major roads and highways to prevent traffic congestion. Additionally, makeshift bank booths will be installed at the markets to facilitate safe monetary transactions.
