Woman Awami League Leader Arrested in Khulna for Extortion and Looting

Dhaka: Police today arrested Livana Parveen, vice-president of the city unit women Awami League (AL), from her residence in connection with an extortion and looting case. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Detective Branch of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), Taynur Hossain, stated that a police team conducted a drive at the residence of Livana Parveen at East Banikhamar of B K main road in the city this noon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Livana Parveen, who is also a close associate of fugitive ex-KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, was apprehended in a case filed with the Khulna police station. The case alleges that some AL members, including Livana Parveen, vandalized a shop named ‘Fashion Zone By Linda’ at the Royal intersection in the city and looted valuables while demanding extortion on January 16 last year.



The OC further informed that Livana was sent to jail through court this afternoon.
