Rangpur: Academic experts today held a meeting at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), with the aim of formulating an academic master plan to ensure quality higher education and develop the university as a center of excellence. Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali chaired the meeting at the Syndicate Room of the university's administrative building.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, its Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Professor Dr. Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed, Professor of the Department of Marketing Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam, and Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Dr. Saifuddin Md. Tariq exchanged views with teachers of six faculties and 22 departments of BRUR as experts. The experts emphasized that a comprehensive and contemporary master plan is crucial to advancing Begum Rokeya University into a fully developed institution. They believe that an academic master plan is essential for ensuring high-quality higher education.
The BRUR Vice-Chancellor stated the necessity of a proper master plan to position Begum Rokeya University among the top national rankings in the future. He highlighted that the academic master plan's success will rely on the infrastructural engineering master plan. "If all facilities for students are ensured according to the academic and engineering master plans, it will be possible to develop BRUR as a center of excellence," he added.
The experts also engaged in discussions with students from various departments of the university. The students voiced their academic needs on campus, which was a significant part of the dialogue.
On Saturday night, the Vice-Chancellor and the experts paid a visit to the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed in Babanpur village under Pirganj upazila. They also met with the family members of Shaheed Abu Sayeed and engaged in conversations with them.
